We are thrilled to announce that Crewe Town Football Club has raised an incredible £600 for Supported Community Business through their adults tournament held on the 7th of July. This generous donation will significantly support our efforts in assisting adults with additional support needs.
On a recent visit to our workshop, players and committee members from Crewe Town Football Club presented us with the donation and the SCB Charity Cup. It was a pleasure to welcome them and showcase the valuable work our service users and team accomplish daily. Their participation in some of our activities brought immense joy and community spirit.
This contribution will make a substantial impact on the lives of those we support, helping us continue our work of providing essential services and opportunities. We extend our deepest gratitude to Crewe Town Football Club for their unwavering support and for being an outstanding part of our community.

SCB (adults with additional support needs) are delighted to announce it has been successful in its application to police and crime commissioner David Keane’s Community Police Fund to deliver a project to make a wellness and training room at the workshop.

The project has been awarded a £1,000 grant to help fund the room which will enable staff to offer dedicated safety training to small groups whilst also providing a ‘safe’ space to those who maybe require some ‘time out’ when overwhelmed with the challenges of everyday life.

The Community Police Fund links directly to the recently launched initiative to increase police visibility in every community in Cheshire by providing a dedicated Police Constable (PC) and Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) for all 122 policing communities. SCB worked closely with its local policing team, PC John Roberts and PCSO Tim Davey, to develop the bid to ensure it addressed local community safety issues.

The fund has been developed using money seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act (PoCA) 2002 to send a clear message to criminals that crime doesn’t pay.

PCC David Keane said: “By taking out the profits that fund crime and reinvesting them into community, we can help prevent further offences and increase community safety. This fund is empowering our local communities to work directly with our 122 community PCs and PCSOs on tailored projects which make a real difference to your local area. I look forward to seeing the difference this project will make in preventing crime and anti-social behaviour.”

Colin Mills, SCB Workshop Manager & Trustee, said: “We have welcomed the support shown to us by the local Police Community Officers over the past few years through their visits. Service users have formed good relationships and respect for the community officers and taken on board their advice. This grant means we can now take this relationship to the next level and provide more dedicated training in an informal manner.”

We are delighted to announce that SCB (adults with additional support needs) has been chosen by the Co-op as one of the causes who can be selected by Co-op members to receive funding through their Local Community Fund scheme.The funding round started on Sunday, 25 October 2020 and will run for 12 months until 23 October 2021. During this time, Co-op Members will be able to select SCB as their cause, and every time they shop and purchase selected Co-op products & services a donation will be made to their chosen cause, just by scanning their membership card. Everyone associated with SCB wish to express their gratitude to members of the Crewe & Nantwich Weaver Rotary Club for their tremendous support over the past twelve months. Retiring Club President, Sandy Cowen, a long time supporter of the workshop through his company Alexandra Paper Supplies, chose SCB as his Charity of the Year, raising funds towards a new warm air blower. Together with incoming Club President, Simon Yates, & other Rotarians from the club, Sandy presented SCB Workshop Manager, Colin Mills, with a cheque for £2,500. Colin said ‘this donation means a great deal to us, as a small local charity, and will make a huge difference to our working environment’. Following the presentation service users extended an invitation to those present to join them for a cuppa, which was enjoyed by all.

We are delighted to announce that Supported Community Business (adults with additional support needs) Limited were bestowed the ‘Crewe Business Award’ by current Crewe Mayor, Councillor Brian Roberts, at the recently held ‘Crewe Town Council Civic Awards’.  Nominations for ‘an individual or organisation who has demonstrated initiative and enterprise in business in the Town of Crewe’ were sought from the public, following which a short list was compiled.

Staff & service users were delighted & honoured to accept the award, sponsored by Funki Print.com, from The Mayor of Crewe at the event, which followed a Vintage Tea.

All associated with SCB wish to express their thanks for this honour and for the sense of endorsement this gives us all to continue the work we do in the community of Crewe.
