Volunteers
I have been a dedicated volunteer at SCB since 2018, contributing my experience every Friday morning. I discovered SCB at a Christmas party and was inspired to join. My background includes 25 years at Crewe Works, 25 years at Rolls Royce, and serving as a voluntary fireman at Crewe fire station.
At SCB, I assist service users with their tasks and provide a supportive, listening ear. I love volunteering because the appreciation from the service users is unbeatable. They always keep me on my toes.
I bring extensive experience in supporting individuals with special needs, starting in residential care, then day services, and eventually teaching life skills in colleges and schools. Following a family bereavement, I focused on charity work, organizing community activities, and volunteering with MENCAP. I am also active in my local Brownie unit, scout group, and choir.
Since joining SCB in September 2023, I volunteer up to two days a week, dedicating one day to 1:1 math sessions to develop service users’ skills and independence
