Meet Our Trustees

Adam Mellor

Adam Mellor

Chair of the Board of Trustees

I was thrilled to be appointed as Chair of Trustees in 2024 and am incredibly excited about the future of SCB.

My connection to SCB is deeply personal, having been inspired by my uncle Ian, who attended the charity for nearly 20 years.

My family has supported SCB since its inception, with my father serving as one of the early Trustees, and we have been involved in fundraising for many years.

Professionally, I bring extensive experience in the care sector, having worked in and managed care services since 2007.

I currently work as a Global Professional Instructor at CPI, specialising in de-escalation training.

Outside of work, I enjoy sports, travelling, and spending time with my rescue dog, Gizmo, and my cat, Lila.

I am passionate about supporting SCB’s mission and look forward to contributing to its continued growth and success.

Trustee

After considering it for some time, the chairman suggested that I could bring a fresh perspective to the board.

Having been closely involved with SCB for 25 years through our business, Crewe Orlando, I felt compelled to support the charity’s fantastic work.

Professionally, I bring skills from being a business owner and former teacher.

Outside of trustee duties, I love reading, walking my dog, and spending time with my teenage daughters.

My aspiration is to help SCB grow and flourish, making it accessible to as many people as possible.

As a newer trustee, I feel encouraged to share ideas and pose challenging questions, fostering an environment of open-mindedness and innovation among the trustees.

Trustee

I became a trustee for SCB after seeing its positive impact on a family friend’s life, offering structure and social normalisation.

For their family, SCB provided peace of mind and pride, knowing their loved one was in a safe and respectful environment.

Since 2015, I’ve connected with many service users and their families, witnessing the benefits of the SCB community.

As a local businessperson and accountant, I use my skills and connections to support SCB.

I care deeply about those marginalised by society and work to promote SCB through my business contacts.

Outside of trustee duties, I live in Crewe with my spouse and have two adult daughters.

I enjoy walking my dog in the countryside, following Crewe Alexandra Football Club, and have been a season ticket holder for many years.

Trustee

I was inspired to become a trustee for SCB after witnessing firsthand how individuals develop through attending, particularly my son, who has been a part of SCB for over 10 years.

With over 30 years of experience as a purchasing manager in the food industry, I bring a wealth of professional knowledge to the role.

Now retired, I spend my leisure time attending Everton football matches as a season ticket holder and playing golf in the summer.

As a member of the Cheshire East Learning Disability Partnership Board, I work to connect with key people to improve the lives of those with disabilities.

Our team of five trustees collaborates closely, meeting regularly and valuing each other’s opinions.

Since becoming a trustee in 2020, I have seen SCB grow and thrive, and I am confident in our continued success and positive impact on the community.

Trustee

I became a trustee for SCB in 2024 after working closely with the charity for over 18 years through my business, Perfection Beauty Brands Ltd.

Having recently retired, I’m honoured to support an organisation I’ve long admired for its positive impact on service users’ lives.

With my experience in sales, stock control, and logistics, I aim to help SCB continue to develop and provide the best possible services.

Over the years, I’ve built strong relationships with many service users and staff.

Outside of trustee duties, I enjoy reading, golf, rugby, live music, and staying fit.

I’m a Coventry City fan and travel to Sheffield on weekends to support my daughter, who captains Sheffield Tigers Women’s Rugby Club.

A fun fact: I scored a goal at the old Wembley Stadium in a charity match before it was rebuilt.

Trustee

I became a trustee for SCB in 2024, motivated by my passion for supporting individuals with learning disabilities.

With over 25 years of experience as a learning disability nurse and 15 years as a Global Professional Instructor at CPI, I trained care and education professionals in de-escalation skills and non-restrictive support techniques, which I believe are essential for creating a safe and supportive environment.

My aspirations for SCB are to see it continue to prosper and grow, and I am committed to contributing positively to its ongoing success.

The trust board meets regularly, and communication is open and supportive, ensuring a collaborative and inclusive approach to decision-making.

Outside of my trustee duties, I enjoy spending time with my family and grandchildren, walking in nature, reading, and following sports, particularly football and rugby.

I also enjoy knitting in my spare time.

Despite their current struggles, I’m still a Manchester United fan!
