Volunteer with SCB
At Supported Community Business (SCB), our volunteers make a real difference every day. We support adults with additional needs in our Crewe workshop, giving them the chance to build confidence, routine, and employability skills through meaningful and structured work.
What our volunteers do
In the workshop, you’ll be trained to guide simple, work-style tasks such as:
- Labelling
- Light assembly
- Packaging
- Stock-sorting
Your role is to give clear, step-by-step support so service users can achieve and succeed while helping us complete real customer orders.
Other ways to get involved
We’re also looking for volunteers in areas that keep our small charity running smoothly:
- Fundraising helpers – supporting events, raffles and campaigns.
- Community collection volunteers – placing and collecting donation tins locally.
- Charity admin & finance support – helping with office tasks, data entry or bookkeeping.
Practical skills support – maintenance, IT, woodwork, crafts, or employability coaching.
The impact you’ll have
By volunteering with SCB you will:
- Help people grow in confidence and independence.
- Reduce isolation and create a sense of belonging.
- Enable SCB to take on more community orders and fundraising opportunities.
What you’ll need
- Kindness, patience and reliability.
- A willingness to support and encourage others.
- No specific experience – training, induction and supervision are provided.
This is a great opportunity for students (18+), retirees, or anyone with time and skills to share. DBS checks are provided by SCB, and we’re happy to give references for university or job applications.
